City Break Style Guide

09 July 2014

Part two of our style guide takes us to the city break. Ideal for a few relaxing days away, the city break is the perfect getaway for couples and friends looking to combine culture with fun!

From touring the local sights to enjoying the nightlife, city breaks offer a world of opportunity when it comes to holiday styling.

DURING THE DAY

Whether it’s looking good in Barcelona, Rome or Venice, chances are you’ll be exploring the city during the daytime. This means a lot of travelling in the sun, which favours lightweight clothing that is vibrant yet practical. Cropped tailored trousers and pretty summer dresses are perfect for sightseeing whilst you might also want to carry a blazer that you can throw on when it’s cooler in the evenings.

When it comes to footwear, the more comfortable the better. Flats and sandals are going to be the way forward, allowing your feet to breathe whilst still looking super stylish. Large tote bags are perfect for holding everything you need for that long trip out including your sunglasses, camera and the all-important sun cream!

NIGHTLIFE

When the sun sets, there’s still so much to do in the city. Meals out and socialising until the early hours gives you a great opportunity to put an amazing outfit together.

Chiffon fabrics will help to keep you cool in the heat whilst they will also add an elegant finish to any look. The growing trend for playsuits also offers a stylish way to feel comfortable in warmer climates whilst looking on-trend too.

When it comes to shoes and accessories, try the less is more approach. Minimal is very popular this season so channel block colours and statement styles.

Taking a city break means you can adapt a wide range of styles to suit each individual destination. This summer, it’s all about a minimalist approach to packing so make sure that each item you take is versatile so you can mix and match your outfits and avoid packing too much.

But most importantly, enjoy your trip!
