Beach Holiday Style Guide

02 July 2014

It’s summertime, which means only one thing – beach holiday! Whether you want to look super stylish on the sand or get glammed up for evening, there are plenty of trends to give you options for both day and night.

Places like Ibiza, Tenerife and Marbella are ideal destinations because they are beautiful, guarantee good weather and are within easy flying distance. Famous for their amazing beaches, here are a few style tips to keep you looking fresh and vibrant, whether you’re sunbathing or enjoying a cocktail or two with friends!

ON THE BEACH

Footwear is always simple on the beach. Colourful flip flops or sandals will always prove to be the best choice as they are easy to slip on or off at a moment’s notice.

Most items of clothing worn to the beach should be lightweight, comfortable and easy-to-wear. Denim cut-offs and camisoles are perfect for popping on over a bikini whilst you might also want to invest in the lula shorts and panelled shorts.

Of course, it’s also what’s underneath that you need to think about. There are many different styles of swimwear to cater for all shapes and sizes so here are some styles to consider this season.

THE CLASSIC BIKINI

It’s not called a classic for nothing. The string bikini is still a firm favourite that is great in block colours or a statement print. Better still, you can freely mix and match both top and bottom to suit your own tastes.

ONE SHOULDER

Taking away a single shoulder strap can add elegance to a traditional style. Ideal in solid-colour, the one shoulder look is very flattering and will streamline your shape to show off your best assets.

CUT-OUT

Another popular choice for 2014 is the cut-out swimsuit. A one piece that still allows you to show off some skin is the perfect alternative to a bikini as it allows you to show off your shape without giving it all away!

LONG-LINE BUSTIER

Different but quite interesting, the bustier top sits low on the ribs and can be paired with high-waisted bottoms for a retro vintage look or a minimal bikini bottom for a more modern touch.

OUT AND ABOUT

When not lazing by the pool, you’re probably going to be seeing the sights or experiencing the local nightlife. So why not do it in style?

Keeping your feet safe and looking great is crucial if you’re going to be walking around visiting places. Eye-catching, yet comfortable is the order of the day here! Sandals and jelly shoes are perfect for this as they give maximum support but look stylish too.

Light and breezy layers, soft fitting sundresses or a flowery skort are always ideal for sightseeing.

Make sure you don’t forget a nice large canvas bag as they are perfect for storing essentials such as a refreshing bottle of water. Choose bold and bright prints to match everything in your holiday wardrobe.

NIGHTLIFE

When the sun goes down, there’s no reason why you can’t still shine with some excellent style choices. Wedges allow your feet to breath whilst still giving you the height and style you need for a night on the town.

Nightlife is all about having fun and looking great. Once again, warmer climates demand lightweight fabrics and colours. Floral dipped-hem dresses, flowing kimonos and playsuits are staple items to help you look effortless and cool whilst you travel.

The same for accessories. Bold colours mean a sharp and eye-catching look.

Beach holidays allow you to experiment with a range of styles and looks. Remember, bright and cheerful is definitely the way to go here!
